Bitmac Limited is one of the leading producers of Hot Mix Asphalt in Malta, which is used all over the world for paving.

In Malta, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) is a range of mixtures made up of aggregates (95%) and hydrocarbon binders (5%). Hydrocarbon binders (or asphalt) are used all over the world for paving (road-surfacing). They are residues of oil refining.

Aggregates and asphalt are mixed when hot at a temperature of around 160°. The paving is recyclable and can be reintegrated into new pavement courses. Such recycling allows production costs to be reduced.

We have mastered the know-how for producing the components required for road construction and developed new technologies and practices for keeping quality and production costs under control. We have therefore become both a major global producer of Hot Mix Asphalt and a leading road builder.
